About Lou's Loveables
I
have collected teddy bears for many years and never once thought about how they
were actually made. It was only whilst researching a bear I had found in a
second hand shop that I saw on the maker's website workshops for 'bear making'.
This was a revelation to me - I could learn how these wonderful bears were
made! I bought some books and researched on the internet for bear making tips
and decided to have a go myself. I bought some 'on sale' teddy bear fur and
cheap felt and made my first teddy bear using a pattern from the internet that was
freely available for use. I was totally hooked. In a very short time I
successfully recruited my talented Mother to teach me how to use her now
'borrowed' sewing machine and I was rapidly engulfed in everything 'beary'. I attended the bear making workshop I had spotted to develop my skills further and
this was great fun and gave me the opportunity to talk 'bear' with like minded people. This and the help and encouragement from some very creative friends and family gave me the confidence to design my own patterns.
Unfortunately I have a day job so it takes some time for me to make a bear as free time is limited but when I am spending time with my 'on the go' bear of the moment they are my whole world and they are made with love.
